Social Skills Groups

Social skills training can benefit any child. Effective social skills are the key to success in our children’s lives and will be a huge asset to them during their adult life. As adults we are aware that social skills are the key in controlling advancement and success in a career.

DOES YOUR CHILD HAVE DIFFICULTY:

  • Making or keeping friends?
  • Picking up on social cues, tone of voice and body language?
  • Acting appropriately in social situations?
  • Initiating, maintaining, or ending a conversation?
  • With and communicating their feelings?
  • Working cooperatively in groups?
  • With maintaining eye contact?

Group Composition:

Children between the ages of 5 and 17 may participate. Groups will be formed based upon age and language development.

*This group will be co-facilitated by Lisa Hillman & Cynthia Edgar.

Tween & Teen Support Group

DOES YOUR CHILD STRUGGLE WITH:

  • Low self-esteem?
  • How to deal with conflict and gossip?
  • Building and maintaining friendships?
  • Their sense of self/identity?
  • Having an accurate perception of how others see them?

Through the use of art, enactment, creative problem solving and discussion, this group will help tweens/teens:

  • Explore their self, identity and image.
  • Build and maintain friendships.
  • Learn how to deal with challenging friendship situations.

We know many tweens and teens feel misunderstood, rejected, ignored and alone. Often times, these feelings can lead to a negative self image, poor decision making, self inflictive behaviors, drug use and more. Our goal is to be proactive and partner with you in order to prevent this from happening. If you have even the slightest worry that this may be true for your child, please contact us.

Group Composition:

Groups will be formed based on age range and gender.

*This group will be co-facilitated by Lisa Hillman & Cynthia Edgar.
